Accepting Reality

I have found it extremely liberating to realize that God allows as He pleases, and for cosmic and eternal purposes I can not fathom. Not a single sparrow falls to the ground without His knowledge. Earthquakes, wars, murder and mayhem could not happen without His consent. If what is and what happens is OK with Him, so it should be with me. What looks to be unjust here, now is part of a grand plan that I have no way to comprehend. Everything happens for a reason. All things work toward the good for those that love Him. And of those who do not love Him? Who am I to question what whatever He allows to happen?

None of this means that we simply stand by and watch helplessly as another is harmed. If it is in our power to do something, we do it. Good as well as bad have a right to expression but if it is something beyond our control, we accept that too. Life unfolds and happens exactly as it will, acceptance or not, but it is so much better to emotionally accept reality and not resist it. Much of our suffering comes from resisting what is and what happens. But if we put up no emotional resistance to any circumstance, if we allow things to be as they are, we find and keep our Peace of Mind no matter what. We may even find Joy in the midst of seeming disaster because what seems like disaster may be just a foundation for something far better. We just can't know the meaning of everything, or how things will work out, therefore, we would be wise to not make judgements about things. What looks like good could turn out to be bad, what looks bad could turn out to me good. Who can know?

The destruction of the earth's surface and extinction of the dinosaurs and other life forms by meteor impact made the new earth ready for modern mankind. This world of ours, and all its structures and constructs, have already begun to dissolve and fall apart, with much destruction and death ahead, making way for the building of a New Earth, perhaps with Jesus as its Head. This is too frightful for most to contemplate but others rejoice about this, and perhaps with good reason. The final defeat of evil will be horrific but the mass destruction that awaits our entire civilization will lead to Heaven on earth. Jesus said "I leave you peace, my peace I give you" giving us the means to accept whatever happens, whatever comes with grace and wisdom. Krishnamurti once said "Do you want to know my secret? This is my secret. I don't mind what happens." Words to live by.
